bignum
have a quick butchers in the ic pipes just to see if theres any oil passing the turbo seels, also what oil are you using, too thin and that can burn a little.
Robert
i would say its the valve stem seals.
Clarkey
i would say its the valve stem seals. Yeah. I have a similar problem. The guys at Phoenix think stem seals. But it is strange - it doesn't smoke all the time on a cold/hot start. Only now & again. I thought - the thing with stem seals is that .. when the seal is cold - the rubber contracts .. letting oil through. And then when the seals are hot - they expand stopping the oil from getting in. Robert
tbh my aristo does it if i havent driven it for a couple of days. When i get the single fitted i'll get them to check the seals might aswell sort them out while its there. I never get the smoke from a warm start though. Chris Wilson
Sounds like turbo seals, especially if it's been de-catted.
captainchaos
Wouldnt of thought it would be the turbo seals as they have not been on that long but i could be wrong still knew with the turbo side of things
captainchaos
now got another problem my transmission is leaking fluid and its hitting the exhaust so i have a built in smoke screen now. getting really sick now. By the way it only started smoking after it had been idling after a trip down to donny. But the lads that were following me said there was no smoke coming from the exhaust at all when i was on the motorway.
captainchaos
it has been decatted too whats the prices like to sort out either the turbos or the valve stem seals? Have stage 3 hybrids fitted already
Chris Wilson
Put the cats back in, if it stops the smoking it's almost certainly the turbos.
captainchaos
probs is i aint got the cats to put back in. One of my mates is gonna have a look at it tomorrow failing that gonna send it up to envy nearest place to me. Gonna call the guy who fitted the turbos in the morn too to find out if there is anykind of warranty on them as they are not that old at all.
