Registered Nutter
Was wondering what implications there are from the removal of the trac fuse as in will it effect my RLTC at all? also is it best to remove the fuse or to unclip the wire to disable it? Will this disable the top speed limiter? do i have a top speed limiter on a j-spec anyway?
Gareth Davies
The J-spec limiter is a lot lower than even the UK spec, but it will probably have been changed or removed. I didn't even think a J-spec had a trac fuse! But if you have one that has any effect then it won't harm the RLTC at all (infact it's a good idea to remove it). I think there's some ongoing concerns about the effect on the gearbox changes though.
Branners
Is this on an auto or manual? Almost no implications when removing it on a manual, but with the auto it does affect the gearchanges by making them more severe which can in the very very long run possibly maybe damage the gearbox, but its difficult to say whether it will shorten the gearbox life by 10 miles or 10,000 miles. My approach would be to remove it if you can put up with the flashing dashboard light and accept that the gearbox may not last the whole lifetime of the car...or then again it might.
