Ian C
OK, who here has a seemingly large amount of slack in their brake pedal before any real noticeable braking force comes into play? If you have, try removing your anti-squeal shims off the back of the brake pads. I did this on Chris Wilson's advice and I can't believe the difference it's made in brake pedal feel. No more slack, no more woolyness. Hard to describe with text But as a £0 mod it's fan bloody tastic. About 2 hours work as well, if that. -Ian
Jake
Thanks for the tip, but 2 hours? Is there something difficult about supra brakes then? I've never worked on my Supras brakes yet but I could change the all the pads on most cars in an hour

outatime
Originally posted by 400BHP What about braided brake lines? They any good? And as for your signature...PAH! sour grapes?? Sour grapes? Never There is another post by Chris somewhere that says pretty much the same thing - J Specs are faster, fact fans. I've got some braided brake lines, my pedal was super mushy before and is a lot firmer now. Worth it IMHO. :EDIT: I've found what CW said in a previous post EVERY uk spec car I have driven has had far more lag than a J-Spec. Donning flame proof overalls I would never, ever buy a UK spec for myself, IMO the Jap specs drive better, have more power, and FAR less lag. UK specs seem to vary enormously, in my experience a "good" UK spec is about as quick as an average J-Spec. A strong stock J-Spec is invariably faster than any UK stock cars i have encountered. Gearing may have a lot to do with it, as well as the AFM and turbo sizing in the UK spec cars. Ignition mapping will have a large say too, the UK cars are more retarded than J-Specs, probably to allow for our *rap fuel. UK's with hybrids can be `orrible, especially as an automatic. Ian C
I said 2 hours as you never know what might happen Plus I was tightening some subframe bolts as well so I had no real idea how long it took for just the pad stuff so ner. I've got braided hoses on order, I'll let y'all know what it's like after installing them as well. My brakes don't squeal at all, despite removing the shims. And sometimes they squealed with them in so no real difference there -Ian
