Running hot on Optimax

Since putting optimax in my j-spec i have noticed that the Idle RPM has raised to 1200 - 1500 rpm. I started using optimax just after i had my EGT Guage installed. I was wondering how high exhaust gas temperature should be reaching as it seems to be rather high even with the boost controller turned off, sitting at about 800 while cruising at 80 in sixth. whereas before using optimax i seem to remember it was about 700. any ideas how to lower temp and if it is optimax related. I will be getting a FMIC in the new year & currently saving my pennies for it but i dont want to cause any damage before then.

Have a look at http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/ecu_reset/ecu_reset.jpg for resetting the ECU.  It may be a little rough for a couple of minutes afterwards but will soon settle down.

As for EGT, I don't have a gauge, suppose I could go for a run and grab the exhaust for 5 seconds and measure the size of blister :o (only kidding, please don't try that at home)

I always thought that the ECU would learn the new fuel after about 50-60 miles anyway, so pulling the ECU fuse only speeds up this learning process.

If you've been running for some time on Optimax, pull the fuse now shouldn't make a difference. Or so I thought?
