terribleturner
I didn't think you could get a DVD that would hold more than 4.7g?? Just i have here a copy of The Exorcism Of Emily Rose and it says it's 7.95g, and when i use DVDShrink to make a backup that reduces it to only 6.93g. And thoughts on this?? Homer
It'll be a dual layered DVD, these can hold twice the data of a 'normal' single layered one.

MrRalphMan
You can buy DL (Dual Layer) disks now, but they cost over £1 each and you need a compatable burner. Also something's up with Shink as that's it job, to re-encode a DL disk to fit on a single layer...
KaoriFan
DVD-9 is a great format. media used to be expensive, but not bad now. the MSI dual layer burner i have is perfect. have burnt getting on for over 800 or so DVDs (virtually all in 4.7GB DVD format) on it since purchase year and half ago, and its all stuff thats not covered my MPAA or RIAA,so no worries with legal issues . no errors unless i let cache get too small to hold files. strangely enough, a friend did me a copy of Azumi which was dual layer, used DVD shrink etc, and put it on a single 4.7GB disc, and quality was still excellent. if i need any tech advice on all things DVD, AV authoring etc, i use the following: http://www.videohelp.com http://www.doom9.net biggest prob now, i just downloaded a Japanese music concert as 121 part Rar, and its 6.39GB ISO, and i only have FAT32 (max 4GB partition), and not NTFS parition to temporary put it on ready to burn should be interesting the Blue-Ray future. terribleturner
Bugger then. Will have to have another look at it and see what i can do. Thanks
JohnA
DVD Shrink should be able to shrink it to whatever percentage you tell it to. Long films that use the full space of both layers look like crap at 30% but they still fit on a single layer if you insist. Lose some useless soundtracks and drop the menus in quality to save space. MONKEYmark
i prefer pioneer dvd writers they support all the formats.a dvd5 disc will fit on a single layer.dvd9 will need a dual layer disc.not many people seem to sell dual layer discs.last time i looked at prices they were 3+ quid each. dvd shrink is good for taking all menus and trailers and some soundtracks

Guest gzaerojon
Bugger then. Will have to have another look at it and see what i can do. Thanks If you're not bothered about all the fancy stuff, special features ect then just use re-author to stip away everything apart from the film (even the menus) you'll be suprised how much crap is on there, also the end result will be better quility compared to leaving all menus on as it wont need to shrink it as much
terribleturner
I tried reducing the % but it wouldn't go lower than 77% odd And after stripping out lots of the rubbish it still came out at about 5.4g. I'll have another look in the morning. Blue Ray will be fun. 27GB woohoo 25 don't you mean Yeah i'm looking forward to Blu-ray too. Hope they re think the size of the players too before they start producing them.
