Approximate cost to fit?

TLicense

Recommended Posts

All,

I'm planning to have some work done on my car within the next month and need to arrange prior to having it done some finance to fund it.

Disregarding cost as I'll have already purchased everything could anyobody give me an approximate cost to fit the following:

AEM ecu

FJO Wideband sensor (no display)

AEM IAT

HKS DLI

Warlbro fuel pump

FSE refulator valve

Blitz DSBC id III

Blitz Powermeter III

Blitz SSQV

And a cost to map the ecu.

I'm planning to call Leon in the morning but would like to get a feel for what others a charged/paid in the past.

Many thanks

Hiya,

The first thing you should do is check and if neccesary upgrade the software to version 1.03, do not bother with any of the previous versions as they have alot of issues.

Since you have a UK spec you are already most of the way there, the base map should be pretty well matched to your setup.

There are couple things that you need to do to the base map to make your AC work again plus you will also need to setup the initial crank pulse width to make it start without turning over and over for about 10 seconds before starting, you can do all this yourself as the software interface is pretty easy.

Running boost above 1 Bar won`t be an issue either as you have got a HKS DLI, you will need to setup your coil dwell factor, I think with the DLI installed this is best set at 20.

If you need anymore help let me know

I also have a mate who does mapping at a very resonable price if you are interested.

Kind Regards

Guys,

Many thanks for all your help.

I'm not planning to map the AEM myself. Basically I'm thick as pig sh** and know nothing about anything.

Hopefully I'll learn all there is to do with the AEM but I'm planning on giving it to Leon to sort it out to a state where it will run.

Unfortunately Wes, I have a jap spec which may mean it will take a little longer unless you know of anybody who has a JDM with the AEM with stock twins, and would be willing to lend me a basemap?:D

Regards

Thanks Wes that would be great.

What have you done re your fuelling? As I mentioned I'm going to have a warlbro fuel pump and a rising rate regulator installed, which should hopefully help things along. Hopefully in time I'll sort out some larger injectors, not sure what size to go for. ie go for ridiculously large injectors and run them at a very low duty cycle or get something smaller and run the duty cycle higher or increase the fuel pressure. Are there any cons to running massive injectors at a low duty cycle?

As I'm going to be running in closed loop with the FSO wide band 02 sensor, the AEM should be able to sort out the injector duty and therefore the fuelling to match what boost I'm running anyway (well up to the limit of the injectors obviously).

I spoke to Leon today and he's going to put some numbers together as far as costs go. It seems he's also got a base map to work from for the AEM, but I think it's for a UK car. I'll mention that you may have one available for the JDM if that's OK with you.

I'm looking forward to getting into some tuning with the AEM, but like I said I really know nothing as far as engines go, so it really will be a case of going back to basics,:stupid: wasn't it something like suck, squeeze, bang, blow? Or was that just a night in the local brothel?:)

Thanks again

Y'see that's the problem with modern industry, too many specialists. Aero-mechanical, not a problem. Need some bodywork 3d modelled and aero tested? have it done in 5 mins.

Engines.... Make you car go fast don't they? Or rather they generally stop you from winning races. I'll just let the boys from BMW play with them. (Shying away to the corner):conf:

Anyway I would still definitely say the wise money should stay in the UK. :sly: However I've been saying that since '98:twak:

Hello,

Your setup sounds very similar to mine, I also have a Walbro and rising rate regulator so my map should be pretty well matched to yours.

With the fuel pump and regulator you should be able to squeeze about 450 - 480hp out of the standard 440cc injectors, the problem with very large injectors is that it is tricky to get a nice smooth low idle.

Wes,

Sounds like you've trodden the path I'm on already then:D

How much boost have you managed to run? I'm planning on about 18 psi, but want it to be as safe as possible.

What sort of performance have you managed to get out of her with your map?

I don't suppose any mapping is going to help me find the ba*tard that put a 3 inch countersunk self tapper into my rear NS tyre last night? :twak: :twak: :twak:

Regards

The silver J-Spec could well have been me. I've only seen one other mkiv a red J-spec. I've been told that a friend of a friend has just bought a white J-spec 6 speed (yes white! I thought white imports were like rocking horse....)

There's someone over in Abingdon who's about to get a J-Spec that he's having imported, so there will be a right little Oxfordshire community. We should all meet up sometime.

Yep, just Pm'd CJ and his is coming end of October.

The red mkiv might have been mine, though mines a UK spec so maybe theres another red about Witney.

There was a post in "gatherings and meetings" about getting a few locals to hoon about Oxford for a bit. involved Pulse from Aylesbury and MFS from Bicester, maybe we'll sort it out soon.
