PC programme removal

Recommended Posts

I have Norton anti virus and System thingy on my PC and afetr installing AVG, I want to delete the Norton things from the comp. If i go into control panel and remove programs, the Norton prgogrammes do not come up with a remove button when highlighted.

Do I just go into the program file and delete them from there?

Why ? Ive had avg over a year and a half now and not one problem !

It doesn't fair well in the industry tests, in fact it does abysmally.

I'm not saying it causes problems, it just doesn't catch many viruses or other malware.

Industry sure its free personal addition. Or maybe your speaking of the Pro or Enterprise addition but for personal use AVG is decent.

I know, but there are other free ones, and paying £20/year isn't much for good protection.

Avast is much better and still free. NOD32 is great but costs about £20/year.

I dunno about that avast, I downloaded the Msn Messenger wink pack which I know contains trojans, then ran avast which never found it, deleted it reinstalled AVG, bang it caught them before I installed and wouldnt let me continue.

Try it.....http://www.sherv.net/MSN-Winks.html

No you're right. Avast doesn't detect anything, however they aren't viruses, they're just adware.

don't like adware though, so it's 1 each for NOD32 and AVG, and 0 for Avast on this one :)

hmmmmmmmmmm

I think the file has been cleaned as the last few times I downloaded it it contained trojans, but nothing this time.

go to my bookmark page at http://www.css-networks.com

the removal tool is linked at the top. Some manufacturers (Packard Bell) remove the add/remove option for Norton after they pre-install the program.

Just about to try that (everything else failed) and it says that I have Norton System works 2003 and that has to be removed before your program can continue. :(
