TLicense
OK so last year I bought my girlfirend a 40 gig photo i-pod for Christmas. At the start everything was good and she was well pleased. After about 7-8 months, all of a sudden she just got the sad i-pod icon and that was that. We tried resetting and even restoring it, but it was having none of it. So I sent it back and they supposedly repaired it and sent it back to us. After about 3 weeks, we got the sad i-pod icon again, but managed to get rid of it by resetting it. This has happened continuously for the last 6 months, but has been getting progressively worse. We're now well pissed off with it and decided to send it back again, only to be told it's not in warranty! Now because they repaired it only 4-5 months ago so surely it's still under warranty? The warranty should start from when the last repair under warranty was taken out surely? I mean the work they undertook should be covered by a warranty of it's own surely? So first of all, has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I've tried all the "fixes" on the apple site, but they've not worked/helped. Second of all, should I-pod still fix this under warranty? Third and last, if they won't fix it under warranty, is there anywhere anyone would suggest I send it to get it fixed? Cheers guys, Tony

TLicense
reformatt? There's no mention of that on the apple site. How would I go about that?
SupraStar 3000
I had a problem with mine. It just freezed. Couldn't even turn it off. Made the necessary arrangments with apple to send it back but had a few issues with phones4you who needed to verifile the problem which resulted in a nasty argument and me throwing the IPod, but guess what! After I picked it up I noticed the damn thing was working Been fine ever since. This doesn't help you much other then try letting the battery go flat then re-charge it. chilli
This was a problem i had with my gfs ipod, they replaced it with a brand new one about 7 months into the warranty - it then broke again literally about 2 days after the original warranty ran out and they woudnt replace it - if you ask me, if they give you another product it should have another warranty on it, end of - but nope, had to fix it ourselves. And just read the other post about throwing it - my gf read on the internet a few stories of people doing this and it working after, so she thought "hey the warranty has run out, what do i have to lose?" and 'tapped' it against the wall - started working again. hob
If your ipod freezes you can hold Menu + center button and it will reboot (check on older models) http://www.g4tv.com/callforhelparchive/features/45700/Secrets_of_the_iPod.html
chilli
If your ipod freezes you can hold Menu + center button and it will reboot (check on older models) http://www.g4tv.com/callforhelparchive/features/45700/Secrets_of_the_iPod.html If it gets the unhappy ipod face, this tends not to work though. The unhappy face can be quite serious and can mean your HD is knackered. Worth a try though before you start throwing it around, lol.
