Tyre Result!

Well after debating for ages on replacements for the rubbish tyres the dealer put on I decided to stay with stock sizes and go with Eagle F1's. (235 45 17 and 255 40 17)

Got some web quotes, looked to weigh in around 500 inc fitting. Then Merityre got down to about 480.

Phoned Bracknell Tyre and Battery, 90 for the fronts and 102 for the rears  so 384 all in!!! :D

Then phoned Humphries, who said the above was a very good price, but they'd do the lot for 374!!! :D :D I couldn't even get tyres for the scoob for that cheap!! Superb!!! Plus they'll do the alignment for me to my settings (off mkiv.com) for 17.95 :D

Dead chuffed!

Good price.

You might want to double check the alignment price, way too cheap for a full 4 wheel alignment.

Most I've ever been charged in the past was 70 @ powerstation, though I paid 120 as I had the bumpsteer done too. Paid 50 at a scooby dealer.....

(still, if it is only the tracking I'll pass and get the alignment done elsewhere - I'll see what they say on the day........;))

Peter,

You aren't wrong, and literally round the corner from me! However, I usually phone them then go to Humphries as I found out a few years back they'll price match plus knock another tenner off!!! ;)

Still a good result though :D

I don't suppose anyone knows of a similar selection of cheap tyre places in the north do they?

I've just paid around £500 for 245's up front and 275's on the standard 17's but it would have been nice to have saved a few quid without driving miles darn sarf :)

Yeah I didn't think it was too bad either but it's on Falken FK451's rather than the swanky F1s - nice tyre though, I'm very happy with them so far and liked them on my MR2.

I got them from a mate and had to drive a few miles, it would just be nice to have a few companies up here to mirror those in the south to give us a bit more choice, they are probably out there somewhere!

Yeah - they must be around somewhere, its just getting in the "know", as usually you only hear about them from recommendations! I think around here (or might have been on the net) Toyo T1-S's in the larger sizes were about 160 each rears, and about 120 fronts  Not sure you can get 275 in F1's......

Well, I've had them fitted. Why is it they always get the pressures wrong

F O/S - 32.5PSi

F N/S - 36PSi

R O/S - 29.5PSi

R N/S - 29PSi

Turn's out they are also not GSD3, but GSD2 EMT!!!! So I've got the run flats for a stupid cheap price considering they usually cost loads! The D2 are the older type, but still superb as I had them on my scoob, and alot of people have commented that the D3's just seem to squirm a little like they have softer sidewalls. These are kevlar re-inforced so should be cool. And they'll also be a huuuuuuge amount better than the crap that was on, which at the moment is sitting in the kitchen looking for a home until I buy some stock 17s for a trackday!

Other bonus of the run flats, no point in the spacesaver now ;) Lots of room for a lovely sub ;) :D
