ardasaliah
Hi - just your thoughts pls. There is a hissing sound coming from the circled area. Is this normal. Can someone just have a check on their engine as this sound has always been present on mine. The stock boost is 0.6ish bar when boost controller is off -which I know is a little low. boost gauge on idle is -0.55 bar?
JohnK
Sounds like you have a split hose there. All the stock hoses are getting old and brittle, time to replace them.

JohnK
If its coming from the far right corner or the engine bay, the charcoal canister, it will do it at times with the engine off. If its only with the engine running I'd look for split hoses.
Alex
That's not a pic of your engine is it...I was about to point out the unattached t-piece.
letmeshowyou
an un-attached t-piece would be the least of the worries for that particular engine I would suspect lol
Rich
could have a leaking inlet manifold gasket,if nuts not fully tightened,my mates supra had this problem.
ardasaliah
only does it when engine is running. so time to look for spit pipes i think. and no its not my engine LOL
Ian C
I thought exactly the same thing as Alex and then realized I took the bloody picture in the first place lol that's my foot at the bottom of it -Ian
ardasaliah
Right- looked and found no split pipes anywhere. tested them all with a foot pump to make sure. Will the idle negative boost show up a boost leak. Mine is sitting at -0.55 bar. Is this about right- what do other peoples negative boost read? just to compare Cheers
Alex
Ummm you're not hearing the Idle control valve are you? .55 is normal.
ardasaliah
Ummm you're not hearing the Idle control valve are you? .55 is normal. Maybe! So if -0.55bar on idle is normal then I don't have a leak- am I right in thinking that.
Alex
I don't think you do, BUT the thing to test is what vac you get when you lift off...should head to -.7-.9 and what boost you get 0.8bar on a stocker.
eyefi
engine snake?

Def get about -.7-9 when i lift off. However the max boost is 0.65bar. Both turbos come on as they should too. I have converted to TTC and the boost was the same. Could be a blocked Cat or something. I am able to raise the boost with a contoller to 0.8 bar but I would not go past this as I have both Cats still in so not a good idea.
