VVTi

I should be getting my vvti NA on the the THOR dyno thing'a'me'gig so i'm thinking this should show if the vvti thing gives additional power.

The NA comparison should be more conclusive as there are far less variables as regards power output than the turbo cars.

I got pretty good results with VVTi/ BPU on the G-Force dyno last year - direct comparisons with other non-VVTi BPUs on the day equated to around 30-40 bhp more, but more importantly around 40+ ft.lbs more in the driveable midrange.

There is no way the japs are gonna add goodies that compromise these engines are they?

Also - the VVTi fills the torque gap between blowers rather nicely.

Perhaps there will be VVTi issues if I ever get to power levels requiring cam work?

Anyone experienced this yet?

Hi folks

Got the mods listed in my sig (actually, better list them again as they may change in the future! 98 VVTi TT tiptronic, full decat, Blitz Nur spec R, custom 3" downpipes, Blitz SBC-iD, TRL VFCC & DSC) and came up with the following figs:

313 peak rwhp (equating to around 417 crank bhp) @ 1.14 bar

418 ft.lb peak torque

Air fuel ratio nice and flat, likewise boost pressure once 2nd turbo spooled.

Don't know what revs these are all at as unfortunately my graphs x-axis is in mph! (will ring in week to see if they have it on database)

Pleased with my peaks - seems the VVTi does the biz afterall.

Ive got a 98 VVTI with just HKS Hyper exhaust system and was keeping up with a 94 Supra with HYBRID turbos, he just started to edge away after 100 , but I thought it was pretty impressive!

Chris kept up with me on A329 near Bracknell a couple of months ago. (I'm sure he remembers:))

Mine has hybrids and a few other mods and I've seen off a couple of non VVTI cars before.

Leads me to believe that they do have that little bit extra.

Ok i know this might not be the right place to post this but, all this talk about power has got me intrested.

So does anyone know where i can get my car put on a dyno.... near Bournemouth.

I know theres lots of chances to go and do them, at shows and group dyno days, but i can't afford the £60 fuel bill then the £50 dyno bill.

So if anyone knows of a rolling road near Bournemouth. Then i can settle the how much power does a stock VVTi have.
