As for the legality, a number plate should be mounted vertically and have a BSI mark on it which wont apply to most stick on ones. I bought a standard size stick on and trimmed the border off of it, and kept the letters fairly close together (if you didn't know you get given the letters and numbers to stick on yourself). Fortunately you can't see the pic very well...but that was put on really badly - by me - in a rush cause of the Police. I was running without a numberplate and had the stick on in the car....I had to stop right nex to some cops and had to go past them, so I darted into a garage and slapped the number plate on cause I got nervous.
