how to paint your dash

Does anyone know of a good black paint to use, to get the standard look back without the rubber crap. I was going to use black with a matt laquer if I can find one, but it would be good it someone knew of a paint I didn't have to laquer!

I've sprayed mine with a gloss black from halfords and used their clear coat too, it looks great, not too shiney at all! this could be because of the primer I used which was the white plastic primer as compared to other dash's i've seen they have all been to shiney and cheap looking.

Will post pics of my progress soon, its probably too dark to take pics tonight unfortunately!

Thing is when going to a facelift dash, the ODO is no longer digital. So you would have to 'clock' a face lift dial set to get the same reading.

IMO Toyota made a mistake changing from digital to the wheel type. Seems like going backwards to me.

ahhh good point! nearly forgot about that. Right I'm sticking to my dash then and I'll add pillar pods/dash pods as required - less hassle that way and since you can't get everything in the dash anyway I guess pods/extras are inevitable.

For a black car - black dash or dark grey? Opinions anyone? I was thinking metallic but not high gloss, kind of a matt finish.

Its really hard to grind down the messy first layer with the grit....

Takes long time :(

Not easly removable.....so much of it...any tips ?

a lower grit at your own risk :innocent: just remember deep scratches are hard to remove and the primer may sink and show deep scratches:D
