max55uk
Hi guys, I have recently aquired my Twin Turbo 6 speed. Yesterday night the battery was down & i put a booster pack on the wrong way round!!, & now the car will not start, it turns over but will not start. I had a mobile electrician down today suppose to be very good, he checked al the fuses, 1 of them was blown & he's replaced it, still no joy. After hours of messing around he pin points the problem to be in 2 areas 1) The ECU 2) Igniter which is situated on the passenger shocker mount area, (looks like a rectangular unit with x3 plugs) He checked the coil leads to see if there was any cuurent, nothing what so ever. I'm really worried, are the ECU's that easy to blow?, how much will it cost??
Jake
New ECUs are £613.19 + VAT from Toyota.
colsoop
Did he check the fuses in the drivers footwell as well ?? They aren't immediately obvious unless you know they are there. Perhaps you could meet up with a local supra owner and try his bits on your car before you go splashing the cash on parts that might be damaged. max55uk
i don't think he did, i know he was checking fuses under the steering. Do the carpets have to be taken out to get to the fuses, (same as passenger ECU location??)
colsoop
They are to the right of the accelerator pedal, look up slightly and they are behind a black box marked "fuse". but it sounds like he might of already checked them.

Prof. Monkey
Damn bit far for me to pop over! You will need the white fuse puller from the main fuse box, from the engine bay. Right drivers side fuse box: To the right of the accelerator cable is a kick plate, held in with a plastic clip, remove this and stick your head in the footwell, with the rest of you outside on the floor. You will see 3 rows of fuses, systematically pull each one out and inspect it. Someone else on here had problems with an ECU blow, cant remember if was gazzagsi or whitesupraboy. Do a search and see what comes up. Good luck.

max55uk
Well i think it does prove the fact that the Igniter pack can be blown if leads are muddled up. Finger Crossed... Hope it is the Igniter pack.... If its the ECU then my luck :-(

max55uk
Hi, Went and borrowed the Igniter unit from an Auto TT, plugged it in and BINGO! Yes it was the Igniter unit, however this may not be a big problem but the dash lights dont turn off now, i rang the electrician he claims its possible that the alternator has been damaged?, (can be reconditioned i think) But atleast i know its not the ECU, so i need a Igniter switch. I'm going to ring around now to see if anyone has one... Oh if any of you guys know of anyone then please let me know, Thanks for all the help,
tbourner
Do you mean the main warning triangle won't turn off? Try pulling the ECU fuses again, that should reset any fault codes.
