Old Fuel Filter

Absolutely NO reason....

I just cut my old Fuel Filter open and took snap of 'element'.

the Soop has done ~45,000 miles, I haven't changed it before,

have no way of knowing if it was ever changed previously ? !

It IS a 'Toyota' filter (ie. it was SOLD by Toyota:sly: ) so

could be the original, could have been done on a previous

service..... anyhow, it doesn't seem VERY dirty > > > > >

Interesting pic, I suppose if the fuel that is put into the tank isn't contaminated there's no reason for the filter to become clogged during the whole life of the car. But as fuel can be VERY contaminated if the supplier doesn't practice good housekeeping, then it's best to change it regularly, especially as it's relatively small for the fuel demands of the engine. You even cut it open neatly ;)

mmmmmmm...... sliced me Dad's knuckles neatly TOO ! ! :p

(didn't want to crush it in the vice............ oooh dearrrrrr)

I suppose having a plastic tank is a MAJOR way of reducing 'crud'

in the fuel/lines etc ? ?

I was suprised at the lack of muck IN the filter...... there was a

LOT of darkish brown in the ~1/2Litre that came out of the 'inlet'

pipe ? ? almost like it was laying in the pipe ?
