coolant drains ?

The other drain point is under the turbos. It is a bit of a pig to get at. If you want to do a proper flush you should take it out as draining from the rad will not pull everthing of the rear of the block and heater matrix out of the system. That is why Toyota put it there.

I can't remember the exact quantities but there was quite a bit left in the block once the rad drasn stopped, last time I did mine. I have some pics of its location some where. If you have a decent tool kit it should not be too much of a problem.

Previous versions of coolant used to contain a lot of methanol (just like windscreen fluid), so that was unhealthy enough.

With new legislation this has changed a couple of years ago, but it still isn't all roses and happy bunnies jumping about.

Theoretically you should take it to a recycling centre, along with used engine oil etc.

In practice I'm still fuming from learning that my council (bromley) despite the 'green' credentials and fancy fluff --- they consolidate the 'recycled' bits later on and bury them in the ground along with everything else. Grrr...:swear:

Apparently it costs a lot more to process the plastic, glass and paper that we separate, and the whole 'recycling' scheme is ultimately a sham:complain:
