Todd
I have been using a Netgear DG834GT Wireless ADSL router for the past 2 weeks and it's been working just great, that is until I tried to upload a file to my website tonight! I've tried connecting using Frontpage but just get timed out and then I've tried to FTP direct and that wont work either. Had a scan around the net and lots of references to port forwarding and fixed IP addresses.....help!!!! I know I don't have a fixed IP address but stumped after that. Thanks Todd
MrRalphMan
I have this router and use port forwarding. I assume that you are trying to upload to a PC at your home from the outside world. If not then the router shouldn't be stopping this as it does not block outgoing traffic by default. You'll need to do two things.. 1) - Set up an assigned IP for your server/pc at home. 2) - Set up port forwarding on the router to this IP address. Setting up an assigned IP address is quite straight forward. From the main menu, choose LAN IP Assign (Or something like that). You will then have a list of attached boxes with their MAC address, you'll need to add an IP address to you server to ensure that it keeps the same address after a reboot. For port forwarding, have a look here
Pete
Maybe the firewall in your router is blocking ports 20/21 for FTP? (I forget the ports for Frontpage own file transfer system) It should describe how to open ports in the manual.

Eh, just about to pour my JD & Coke over the thing and decided to just switch the windows firewall off (thought I had 2 weeks ago?). Problem solved Thanks for the amazing response time guys, I'm off for a read and learn more about this black magic stuff
