my ps2 has just decided to pack up (its about 3 years old now) i had it modded so that i could play imported games from america and japan and backups cos im forever scartching the originals. Does anybody have a modded ps2 they want to sell (must be working) or now abody that could mod a brand new ps2 for me. I got money waiting as im lost without it now on the weekends when we used to play multi player fifa

any help much appreciated

not sure it has been making weird noises for the past few days now its completly dead - i attempted a repair with my trusy screw driver but think i made it worse as i cant get it back together so its in bits in a crisp box by the tv. probably wont be able to get it working again by the looks.

I used to know a guy that repaired ps2 for a living but his shop has now moved an email address is no longer working, thanks for the help though pete

I know the PS2 fairly well inside and had three or four in bits and modded them previously.

If you wanted to send me the bits I'd be happy to give you a free assesment...or at least reassemble it to it's former glory. (Sommat to do isn't it?)

I can get you a new one prety cheap. But is it worth getting a new one when the ps3 is out this year?

PM me if you are interested and I can give you a price for the slim line and the normal size.

Pete have you got a spare lens for a ps2?

I put one in one of my older ps2 but still not working, could I be cheeky and ask you to have a look at it as well. I have kinda reached the end of my ps2 expertise?:)

Cheers,

Ray

Sure it was the right lens?

They can be a bugger to align properly sometimes. Does it seem to run ok apart from not reading the disc? ie.. when you stick the disc in does the laser move to the seek position but simply cannot read the track? If it doesn't move then you're looking at something else, not the laser at fault. I've got some good diagnostic documentation I can email to you. Also a video somewhere showing you what to do. I host it later for you to download.

I don't have any spares I'm afraid, both of my PS2s are different revisions as well which is a pain. As they're working I'd rather not dismantle them for test purposes. :D

That would be cool Pete:thumbs:

I have the right lens for it but it still does not read the disk. If you hosts those goodies for me that would be great.

I am working on HDadvance at the mo on my silver with a 40g hdd all working and able to play iso game images from the disk without any hardware mods/chips :)

Would like to try it on another and have it as my media centre :) and the HDadvance on it too.

Cheers,

Ray

HD Advance is cool. I have a 120Gb drive in my PS2 :D

Games load really fast. Shame not everything works 100%

I will get all my games backed up *cough* and see how it goes. I used the new HDloader (which is HDadvanced but not badged and sold) and I have a configuration link for the modes you have to set some games to get them to work if you would like ;)

That's the one - HDLoader. There's a few versions kicking about - even a USB drive one.

Link for configs for games would be cool ta. I tend to just randomly choose until they work. Can't see much difference on most.

Just for info, if you have a standard ps2 that isn't working sony will replace it with a reconditioned one for £55 delivered next day if reported before 4pm. Just phone the support line.

That's cool - will they refit the mod chip too? ;)

Hi Pete, is there still someway of getting that info as the link doesnt work for me, the modded slimline PS2 i bought from Hong Kong last year has stopped reading discs so would like to diagnose the problem and fix it

I must've deleted it. It's not on my NAS backups so I'll have to reupload it from home later.

my mate does them for a living, what mod chip you got.can you boot dvd backups. mate was telling me that dust is a big problem.take apart and clean all fans with a vacum cleaner.

i used to mess about tuning lasers on psx as some intros used to be jumpy loading.you had a screw on laser and you could fine tune it so it ran intros super smooth.

when i got mine chipped it was about 80 pound.
