Soonto_HAS_soop
Right, before anyone says anything (martin!) I have done a search and can't find anything on the operation of the drivers side window!! I'm fed up of having to buggar around with the drivers window to get it to stop half way down, is there a special knack to stopping it?? I don't always want it to go fully down, and I look like a right prat sitting in the car with the window going up and down trying to get it to stop!     Ben.. Branners
The switch has 2 settings, down, and auto-down. Basically as you pull the window switch back it lowers the window, you should feel a click as you pull it back and thats when it does the auto-down. If you hold it before this click it will stop when you release the button. If you hit the auto-down bit then you can just nudge the button to go up and it will stop, but again if you are in an import it has the auto-up so if you go past that click it does an auto-up. Basically just nudge the button to stop the window. JB
Soonto_HAS_soop
Yes I have a J Spec, so it is a case of soft and gentle then?? If that is the case, I'd better get used to looking like a prat!! Ben..
Jive
Hehe .... don't worry, your not the only one to get trouble from this, I've had exactly the same thing as well. Best way I've found is to use the auto down option and then just nudge up to stop. What really baffles me is there's no auto down/up on the passenger side. Don't know if this is on the facelift models but it's not on mine
pulse
Passenger door has no auto up/down on mine either, but I don't know if I've ever seen power windows with a passenger auto up/down switch.. Mine's a RZ TT J-spec, maybe it's a GZ feature if it exists. As others have said, if you push the switch down softly (you can feel a definite 'stop' before it clicks into auto down) and up softly it should make your problems go away. I usually press the auto down then just flick it softly up when it's at the right height, only took about 3 goes to get it right.. -p
Sharpie
UK cars only have Auto down - Just read it in the manual. Never knew that I had auto down
Suprash
Pete, dont tell me you used to hold the button down until the window dropped. Also mines a face lift and that hasnt a passenger auto up/down. Could you take a auto switch out of another Supra and replace it with say the passenger side, so that both sides have the auto up/down, not sure how the switches are moulded, made or anything, just my thoughts rambling...........I'll get me coat. Don't know if this is on the facelift models but it's not on mine I've had a few other cars that have had full auto on both front windows, I'm pretty certian about the rears as well. Full closure alarms would need fully-auto windows otherwise they wouldn't work. (edit - they could just keep their 'elecronic' finger on the button for 10 secs I suppose and take a punt the window had closed)
Suprash
But that conecpt 600 say is a full closure alarm, yet our Supes only have auto on the drives side, but that your saying is that wouldnt go together.
