jamesmark
hi guys getting my new supra on boxing day, its a standard 1994 twin turbo (27 and still getting anal probed by insurance) full veilside kit except evo spoiler leather, cruise and a whole other buttons that are in jap and its black. i posted on this forum with a very decent response well impressed about getting it delimited, i was recommended to use thor as other companies (see the thread supra virgins by me) where leading me up the garden path ................ probably another butt thing not to sound to thick stupid:looney: as this is my first supra when i get the delimit from thor and have it fitted etc what is it getting delimited too? 155mph as per the uk spec or until it runs out of puff secondly could someone tell me what the stats are 0-60 top speed (when delimited) power (as heard about this jap agreement) cheers guys mark
tbourner
I think the Thor unit changes the readout from kph to mph, so the limit is changed from 180 kph to 180 mph. You probably won't go that fast!!
Steve
Top Speed is hard to reach on the road without getting caught. So its fast! AFAIK most Jap cars have been dynoed the same as the UK ones. Between 300 - 330bhp.
tbourner
Oh and don't ask 0-60, it's about 5 seconds IIRC but it doesn't give a very good impression of the speed of the car - it's a motorway cruiser through and through - off the line acceleration is one thing, but boot it from 70mph and you'll realise the full potential of the car!! stevie_b
The speed will currently be limited to 112mph: the ECU is responsible for doing this. AFAIK the Thor delimiter (good choice of delimiter by the way!) will completely remove any limit, so it should accelerate until the engine runs out of puff. That happens at quite a high speed, so I'm led to believe! It fools the ECU into thinking the car is travelling at just below 112mph when it is well over this figure, so the car will keep on pulling. colsoop
Didn't a desresricted american spec supra do 170 mph stock??
jamesmark
cool, i cant wait to get it if what you are saying i think i will leave any engine mods for a few years as will still be powerful after that as its purely a weekend car i think i will stick to cosmetics side of things for now.......... some lambo doors is on my list to firstly do, any ideas on where i can get a set? and that evo spoiler its full veilside so i want a veilside boot spoiler, but can source one of those. again amazing reponse and cheers to those guys that took time to answer cheers mark
Guest chiefvinso
I hit 170leptons in my standard soop, how accurate this is I dont know but it was still pulling
JohnA
Toyota claim 180mph for the unrestricted supraTT. If anything, that's for the USSpec with 6 less horses.
lust2luv
I don't think the US Supra has any less horses to the UK spec - don't they just have a slightly different way of measuring horsepower?
JohnA
It is lower because Europe at the time had widely available higher octane pump fuel (Germany, UK even had 98RON unleaded back then, didn't it?) The USSpec ECU maps are also slightly different due to emissions regulations that were tighter over there (hence their famous 'lean spot')
veilsideTT
Does the UK version also have a speed restriction? Around 157mph?? Or is that just US versions?? Scott
Jake
yeah, 155mph limit for the UK spec Quite common the 155mph limit is nowadays, on beemers, Mercs, etc. I guess it's a nice round number in kph. Edit Just worked it out. 155mph = 250kph
veilsideTT
Is the 155mph limit removable on a UK spec? Not that i want to go over 155mph obviously just curious like What would happen at 155mph anyhow? fuel cut, trac butterfly closing? how would it feel? Jake
Removing the limiter on the UK spec is different to the j-spec. I think it's just a matter of pulling TRAC fuse out, iirc. So I guess you're right, it's to do with the TRAC butterfly.
veilsideTT
Darn it! Gotta keep my trac fuse in else will fry my box. If anyone knows of other ways round this without pulling the trac fuse then "share the wealth"
Marty
doesnt the 155 limiter get bypassed when the traction control is turned off? ive had my soop up to 175leptons with just the traction turned off, the trac fuse is still there as far as i know
JohnA
175 on the clocks is not yet real 155 (but just about) I've tested it on mine, with std wheels/tyres.
