DamanC
Hello guys and gals Ive recieved a nice set of UK headlight today Now one of them is well in mint condition and the other has a little rust like appearance just under the outside light chrome ring and underneith. With the mint light can i just swap it out with my J-spec and the bulbs will fit hunky dorey or do i have to do a little work to make the existing bulbs fit? if so is it an easy job? The rust on second light, seems to be a common thing, pritty much like this http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/5256/light15jf.jpg http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/2975/light27zl.jpg http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/8544/light54dv.jpg (ellis hope you dont mind me robbing your pics) is it posible to referb them? Ive done a set of J-spec's before so am not completely new to doing it but is there something that i can use that will do the job? any recomendations? Failing that are the J-spec and UK spec Lights the same size as such.......can i simply swap the plastic lens on my J-spec light with the Glass lens? It looks like its been referbed before and to the outer side of the light its been stuck with silicone sealent leaving a slightly clear seal, and so would like to change that. Just incase i need to take them apart again will windscreen bonder come apart in the oven? if not is there anything else thats black that i can use? Sorry for the longwinded post, any advice appreciated
Nic
The bulbs will fit with a bit of tweaking to the tabs, but the low beam will have a slightly thinner diameter body (20mm instead of 22mm) so won't give a perfect seal, so you *may* get some fogging inside. The J-spec and UK lenses are not interchangable. If it is just surface rust, you may be able to clean up the majority of it with some metal polish and seal with some lacquer perhaps. Kev.O
I don't think it's actually rust, almost like the chrome has come away! Nice lights by the way!
black cat
your right its not rust, its the plastic underneath. it will only get worse unfortunatly. mine did this wen it was left to the elements. cant re chrome i dont think as its one bit. mask off and spray silver is the only way. tt steve
