kubus1
Hi everyone, I got some white coloured stickers that you stick onto your stock dials. Roy has kindly given them to me as the are only good for a LHD car. My problem now is that I have taken the dials out of the car and I wanted to stick the bits on( I know that it would look really good) and I m faced with the red needles on the dials, they won't come off. Has anyone ever done that, or do you know how to take oof the red needles so I could stick the white bits on? Take a look at the pics. Thanks very much, Cuba http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid68/p129b9b293dbc86019342b18b52d84634/fbbfcf36.jpg
Geezabloke
Hi M8 I think the general agreement is to try and slide the dials over the needles Otherwise be very carefull to mark the needle positions so when you remove them you can be sure they are returned to the same position.......:flame Dev
Steve W
I 'chickened' out when I 'made' a new UK-type speedo face for mine (when I did my Speedo conversion the speed was a 0-120mph) I printed a paper dial, but, had to use the original face to stick it to as the paper's too thin... the original face is FAR TOO STIFF to bend around the needles, so I cut a slit in it. Comes off and on easy now.... BUT AT NIGHT, YOU CAN SEE THE SLIT.....oooh errrrr. Lots of threads about the needles/dials thing but NOBODY has ever posted a decent explanation of how to remove/refit and recalibrate the dials ! ! ! ! I'm not taking mine off till I know for SURE ! ! [/b] CHICKEN..............I thought you could do it then tell everyone else......lol Give Justin at TIC a call as he has done a few..........:flame Dev Has anyone got a template in Word or something? Steve W
I've got the pic's etc still... the paper has to be 'see-through' 'cos the numbers are backlit ! Photo-paper would just about be thick enough but really it needs to be some sort of plastic (perhaps like that printable Overhead Projector stuff ? ?) Mark Ayling
When I fitted mine they just slid over the needles - its a bit fiddly, but possible. You really don't want to take the needles off if you can help it!
Mark Ayling
BTW - just comparing my pic to yours - looks like you've got smaller holes in the middle, as if they're meant to go under the black needle "centre". They'll only slide over the needles and fit properly if the centre hole will go over that black bit, not sure whether you can (or would want to) cut the hole bigger or not....otherwise you may have to remove the needles after all, but as Geeza says, be very careful! Thorin
Mark, where did you get those dials from? and do the warning lights still shine through them ok? (looks like they do on the photo)
kubus1
Mark, that looks really nice. Yeah, the holes are much smaller so I think I would have to cut them to fit over the needles. I have another problem. My speedo is in KPH and not MPH as on the white stickers. I guess it would not read correctly, would it? Roy, Thanks for the bits again, I hope I can fianlly make them work. Thanks for your help guys. Cuba
Mark Ayling
Thorin: I got them from a company called Bluetone which consisted of a couple of oriental guys and their father. They produced a number of the dial kits and Eric Kasir (IIRC) also had a set from them. Since I've had them loads of people have wanted a set and we could have got a group buy going had the Bluetone guys not disappeared into thin air! I've just looked at their website (http://www.bluetone.co.uk) and its changed, there's an email link on there so you could try contacting them but I have emailed them before with no reply! There are basically cut-outs where all the warning lights are, so yes, they do shine through ok. Cuba: I don't know for sure, but I'm not convinced that your speedo will read right if you just stick the dials over the top - you probably need to get it converted over to MPH properly anyway, using something that Pete @ TRL produces, I can never give a techie description of it but I seem to remember Thorin posting a link to it in another thread....? Prepared to be corrected on any of that though.... HTH
