Tom
I just turned this computer on as I hadn't used it for a while and some virus is blocking norton anit virus from loading, logging into msn messenger and hotmail and I can't even do "ctrl alt del" to view processes running as it flashes up then hides away!!! Help needed!
Soonto_HAS_soop
I tend to go to http://www.thatcomputerguy.us and use the links to free internet based virus checks. Go to the site, then go to the forums and use the virus specific forum, in there are links to several free and good checkers like pandasoft, etc.
Branners
the virus will be blocking the major virus scanners, pick up a less common one and theres a chance it wont get blocked. If you cant get it cleared somebody from the BBS would be willing to come out and fix it for a few beers. JB
Bolsius
you could try running msconfig from the command prompt, which will show you which processes are running and allow you to stall them during boot process
Tom
well case closed, I found the bugger, it wouldn't let me even run regedit! I kept trying to bring up task manager as it only briefly flicked on and I managed to print screen to look what was running, the name of the file was "msnger" which I knew it was trying to hide like mssenger! clever little thing! then I foudn it renamed it virus! ran safe mode and deleted! Thanks for the help as always people, so much info on here it's unrela sometimes!
