Syed Shah
Was dreaming about the new Z06, and saw this on autotrader: http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/CARS_popup.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=CHEVROLET&model=CORVETTE&min_pr=7000&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=sw13+9ru&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH&start=3&distance=57&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200544213755050 Anyone know much about them? toyotasuprauk
I used to know someone with a yellow one, I only went in it once though. Felt pretty fast and sounded nice but looks very dated, especially the interior but it is an old car! Although I'm sure his wasnt a 7.4, it was long time ago but thought it was a 5.7. Soop Dogg
I owned a '75 'vette a few years ago. The one in the link should be a 350cui engine if it is an L82. (5.7 litre, NOT 7.4!) It's also in the anniversary Indy Pace Car colours for that year. It would have originally come with the decal kit for the doors too. If you're thinking of getting it, try to make sure the seller has the decals for it as it all helps with the resale value later. Don't expect handling or luxury from it though. After driving a Supra for a while it will feel very agricultural! I did love mine and a few years later when a mate wanted to buy one I went along with him. It was only after getting in it and driving down the road that I started noticing all the little rattles and 'faults' and started thinking, 'oh yeah, mine used to do that!' From then on, I figured I could no longer live with an old one any more. They can cost alot to sort out suspension etc as it always rusts away in this country. Engine is cheap for bits if you get the 350. Speak to Ultimate Spares of America in Norfolk if you have Q's about running costs. Martin or Ray have both owned many 'vettes in teh past and should be able to advise you. Corvette Kingdom are also very knowledgable and do alot of restoration work. Clairmont Corvette are ok at selling the cars, but are very expensive for work to be done. Bauer Millet in Manchester are another large company like Clairmont where the service isn't as personal as smaller companies like Corvette Kingdom. Drive as many as you can and you'll soon start to recognise a good one and get a feel for the cars. The car you linkled to seems cheap to me. Might be worth a look, but look very carefully as they are usually cheap for a reason. If it is a 4-speed manual, then get it anyway as there was only about 114 made in the Pace Car Trim from what I remember! Although I wouldn't have an old one any more, I would have a C5 or C6 perhaps!
