DamanC
Had my decat, restrictor ring and plug fitted today/yesterday and when i got home ive descovered its not exactly air tight. It appears to be blowing between the first decat and the second. Its incredibly noticable especially when cold and also makes a kind of ticking noise firstly is it ok to run? and secondly i *might have been giving it some welly on the way home to test the difference, would i have done any damage? *= definately tried it out properly! Chris Wilson
Unless whoever fitted it has bent the flanges you can't have done any damage, get it fitted properly, assuming it's not a fault with the pipes themselves. Exhausts do NOT need "running in" !
Pig
How you finding it damen? Makes a massive difference eh, what boost you running? My exhaust did the same thing. With mine it was blowing from the joint back from there. However i think it maybe that i kicked the shit before the sealer had sealed properly??? dont know my sh1t though! DamanC
Excellent, i was concerned that there was a gasket in place that i could have fried. Just been back to have it tightened but its still not perfect. The problem with it is it sits at a poor angle, either that or it sits lower making it impractical, because its been lifted a bit is gonna be harder to get a good seal. im gonna get myself a few ali plates from where the decat came from to act as a gasket either side of the restrictor ring as the ring on its own isnt upto to job of helping with the seal Jon - Major difference mate, tbh i nearly crapped myself when the second tubby cut in! seems to be running bang on one bar now.......is that a good thing? no fuel cut yet thou but will fit my fcd just in case. Havent a much chance to try it out, last night i was a bit scared of flooring it due to the leak and had a quick go on the way back from the garage, but will venture out this evening to tear some tarmac up as for you sealer........you shouldnt have any, apparently its to stop the paste being suked up by the turbos when you get a vacuum, so i was told
