Didnt realise it was so easy. i think even i could do the temp thing. Am gunna try it when i get the car back from its health spa. how are you getting on with the switch dave? And how are you finding driving it? liking the difference?

oh and have a look at this http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=17754&d=1120502602

oh and my offer of doing yours is off!!!!!!!

getting to the ecu wires is a cnut, but you can go the other route and feed wires through the bulkhead. as for driving its a bit more fun as you get nothing then weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee at 4000rpm:drool: and sometimes you do get the vsv's rattle but only on idle. gonna keep it ttc for a while and then switch to see what i like best, but will leave the mod in just for fun:OK:

Looks like just the simple way for me then, and bribe you to do the wires if i like it.

Is the simple way ok. No dangers or anything...even long term?

Does the rattle sound quite bad and whats the vsv?

Do you have to reset your ecu every time you change the switch?

not that i know of,

didn't notice until parked up and got out,

the things you have just bypassed

and no

thats in oreder of questions

and if you like it i will do it for you. the switch method is better as you only have to flick a switch to return to normal;)

VSV is a control valve which control the actuators (thats what makes the rattling noise). You'll find it will only rattle when you switch from Seq to TTC as the actutors will be partially opened and it only rattles on idle and low rpm until the actuators are full open

No danger will be caused to the engine by either method.

Just done it the pipes way. Not 100 % sure yet. Was boosting a bit higher got it to 1.22. 1st gear is great fun. kiss the TC goodbye lol.

Car sounds completly different, i used to love the old sound but the mrs says this is nicer like this.

had a quick blat with a wrx to check it and, yes ofcourse i kicked his ass lol

The new sound will be much louder at idle and pottering speeds as the No.1 turbo will not be silencing the airflow. Boosting at 1.22 bar really won't achieve you anything other than high EGTs and power loss. Mine loses power over 1.15 bar and the EGT's start to go up rather quickly from there. If you've got an uprated intercooler and hybrids then above 1.2 is good. Stock tubbies beware.

All I have been told and in practice is to not flick the switch under boost. I regularly flip the switch with no foot on the gas at the end of a trip or when I come into town and know that I am gonna cruise. Helps keep my EGT's down so I don't have to sit in the car as long before I turn the car off at the end of a trip.

what do you switch it to? i was thinking ttc would give better fuel consumption????

Dave any chance you would be able to do the switch for me?

As you said it was an arse i will only accept you help if i can give you the going rate for doing it. Cheers mate

I did the ETTC thing years ago. I liked it on the manual. Not quite so keen on the auto.

Theoretically, from what I can remember reading at the time, was that you were only supposed to engage it when both turbo's were online, because it will then keep the VSV's open. However, in those days, I was looking for any excuse to blow my turbos and 'force' myself to go single, I tried every way of flicking the switch, on boost, off boost etc, and nothing bad ever happened.

It's not a bad way to see if you like the way a car will drive if you went for either a single or big twins, although when Mig first fitted the T67 on my car, I was very pleasantly suprised to find the the T67 spooled up a lot quicker the the sequentials in true twin. So if you can live with true twin, you can rest assured that a single is better.

When on sequentials, my car used to spike occassionally on ETTC, so bear that in mind and keep an eye on the boost gauge.

Personally, I don't like EGT's going much above 900 as a safe limit.

I switch it to parrallel mode or true twin or whatever you want to call it when I am coasting into town and home. It should bring your fuel consumption down a bit if you do all your driving in busy towns as you aren't going to be wasting energy spooling the No1 up and dumping the pressure constantly.
