What's up with THOR?

They have been responding to my emails pretty promptly - no problems when I was wanting to buy something. But I haven't heard from them for about a week now when I stated that I need to return it now??? I guess maybe they're are too busy?? I don't get it. Are they out of pocket for a while - should I just send it back Their terms and agreements says that I can return it if it's been unopened from 7 days of recieving the package. So should I just return it or what? I'm from the states so I'd like to get some feedback from them before I ship it overseas....

 

I bought the TSD from them and have no need for it now. I still haven't picked it up from the Post Office.

Send it back with a covering letter - you'll have a tracking number to prove you've returned it.

 

e-Mail them to let them know it's on it's way back and what the tracking number is, with the covering letter let them know how to re-imberse you...cheque - wire transfer - paypal.

 

If you get no joy kick up a stink on here.

Well, they have been very helpful. And I'm not trying to slam them in any way. I would just like to know what to do. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably call them today. I don't even know the time zones so I'll have to check that out.

They are a bit fussy when you return any item to them. Bought an item,something to do with speedo converation. I did not need it so phoned and sent the item back without opening even the courier bag. They took it back reluctantly and slapped 10% handling charge although their return policy stated full refund if the item is unopened. Never did any business with them again.

I'm guessing there would just be a re-stocking fee if its not a warranty claim/issue

There shoudnt be. AFAIK, the internet and telephone selling laws prevent this from happening providing the seller is informed / the goods are returned within the 7 day timescale.

Oh! Sorry about the last week. First 3 days we were filming with 5th Gear so in order to stop the phone screwing up the pieces to camera it was put on silent and answered when we got the chance/spotted it shaking. Peter then had a family holdiay until today and he deals with mail order /returns and such like so things have got a bit behind on this front. He's back now so hopefully the back log will clear. There is no problem with returning TSD/SC's as we have only got about 10 left in stock so any coming back would be helpful if you don't need them (I don't see those 10 lasting the week as they sell like hot cakes world wide), all we ask is you cover the postage costs other wise we will be out of pocket for reasons beyond our control which I don't see as being unreasonable.

 

We have been busy setting up the engine building and fabrication departments which have had their first transplantee's arrive by name of a 1UZ, 2UZ and 3UZ Lexus V8 engines ready for some Supra shoe horn Shenanigans.

 

We have also had to clear a backlog of 15 cars that have been awaiting parts from other suppliers (Except Darren's monster who's first in line come Monday morning for a bit of Link action) but we have got this down to 5 over the last week working flat bollock knacker.

 

The main reason we miss calls and e-mail's is the fact the phone rings constantly from 9:30am till 7:00pm and we have over 100 e-mails a day that Peter deligates around each of us based on area of expertise which is why some of you may have thought it odd to receive a reply from me time stamped at 1am or later even on Sunday's from time to time.

 

Hopefully normal service will resume from Monday.

You can't morally expect a firm to spend time processing orders, packing them up, pay delivery charges, and then just accept something back just because the customer changed their minds about wanting it, after its been sent out. I know by law you can but that time and those costs have to be absorbed some where and it basically ends up going onto the firms entire product range by building in a margin for this sort of thing. Net this means that the general consumer ends up paying for other people ordering stuff they don't want. Personally I beleive that if you buy something and plain just don't want it you should have to pay to send it back and not expect someone else to pay for that.

So based on your comments mate, rajinder (and any others) will be expecting their handling charge refunded, or a credit note issued is that correct?

 

It is covered under the sale of goods and services act and is covered under statutory rights for mail order servicing as well so it it is good that you have now clarified this situation for everybody.

What can be reasonably expected is neither here nor there mate, the law provides for a return of goods at no extra expense to the consumer (return postage is applicable though). It seems that based on the previous posts, THOR are aware of this and have clarified their viewpoint on it. All seems fair to me. If you ordered from the next catalogue and they kept 10% when it didn't fit - your own error, you wouldn't be too happy would you?

 

As the situation is now clear and everyone is happy there should be nothing to worry about :Popcorn:

Awesome! Thanks for the clarification. I called the other day and talk to one of you engine builders. I didn't think I'd hear anything till Monday. I should have deleted the thread then but I left town and just got back. But I think you answering cleared up any questions others may have had. Thanks again. And I will be sending that unopened package Monday. Thank you.

Oh I know that its law fella doesn't make it morally any more right is all I mean lol. When ordering something from next you and they accept that the item might not fit so they basically build in a margin to account for the additional costs of having to receive goods back. In the case of car parts that are for specific vehicles its going to fit so in the instance where you are just sending it back because you don't want it any more IMHO is wrong to expect someone else to pay for that.

 

The issue in this case is resolved amicably and thats great I'm just expressing an opinion on the general policy of returns etc.
