Chris Wilson Posted October 26, 2005 Share Posted October 26, 2005 Power Excel software is on legitimate sale in japan, but it is crippled and apparently will not write on the fly. See nenguns site, they have a small print list of disclaimers, like you have to fake a .jp e-mail address to get the software, they won't warrant whether it even works at all, and all you seem to be buying is the lead and dongle. Datalogit sell their hacked software (flakey and nothing like as powerful as the real thing, of which i have a copy, but no lead. I COULD risk buying the nengun supplied lead and seeing if it works with legit dealer only software, but too many ifs ands and buts for my liking. I cam map my Skyline engine with legit Datalogit software and mapping box. Datalogit supposedly have a JZA80 mapping box for sale, but they have been unreachable for many weeks. Go figure! You need MORE than the software, which i have here, both original dealer only, and datalogit, you need the lead / dongle, too. I'll almost ceratinly be able to sort out your engine warning light proble with the reources I already have, if that helps a bit. i will try the car tomorrow for you. It's for reasons like this i have always recommended stuff like Motec, where the hassle factor does not exist (OK, it's not [yet], plug and play), and where English support is phone call away. Trying to find another standard ECU is not going well either...... I have put out a load of emails to Datalogit and Nenguns. Lets see if I hear anything back. Got this from Thor: "We have the software but we need a High Speed interface for the FC-Datalogit. We do have the official Apexi Power Excel software an dongle but have not tried it on this car. eyefi Posted October 26, 2005 Share Posted October 26, 2005 i have the serial box and software from datalogit for the 2jz-gte. it all works fine. datalogit have a backlog of 700+ emails at the moment so you won't get a reply this side of xmas. If so and its succesfull would you be interested in selling or at least lending it to me and Chris Wilson? Our other option looks like buying the box, cable and software from Australia for £250.....
