b_have
Getting pissed of with all the Chsss chssss chss noise from my HKS sequencial BOV so, decided to remove it and run with no BOV. Still get the fluttery noise, so must be the wastegate chattering. I have adjusted the preload on the spring to 1bar (Its an HKS 50mm) Is there a better more non progressive wg spring available? I remember Leons car produced a lovely single yelp each time he changed gear.
bromy
It's not the wastegate making the noise, i'm running without a BOV on my single and mine makes that noise it's the turbo stalling when you let off the throttle on boost the pressure has no where to go and backs up to the impellor, i know what you mean a lot of people would kill for that noise but after a while gets kind of annoying
Ian C
I heard that turbo stall noise a couple of times on my hybrid setup, after I blocked off the stock recirculation valve during some troubleshooting. I never want to hear it again, especially as I know why it's making that noise. You may as well want to hear det. -Ian

Maybe if i wind the wg spring up to 1.3 bar? Or can I get an uprated spring?
hadyn
So running 1bar with no DV on stock twins isnt a good idea? Lots of people on the 200SX forum run with no dv for the wastegate chatter noise and dont report negative effects. Mind you S14s run with steel blade T28s and turbo stall on ceramic blades cant be too good
Alex
If you want the wastegate to open at the last minute you need a GATED boost controller... like the one Vortex sells. Speak to Terry.
Guest Terry S
its down to the style charlie, the HKS GT WG ( the 60mm ones) seems to make a quick BOOOO. My old one sounded like a sample from a disco track LOL.

My old one sounded like a sample from a disco track LOL. Yep, I could live with BOOOO Mine is a HKS GT50, but came with the spring set to o.8 bar, since adjusted to around 1.1bar. If I want to go higher, do I need an uprated spring or will this one cope? (I am running >1.4bar via the avcr)
tbourner
I'd love the chatter noise but also know what it actually is that's causing it so am not going there!! I thought it was acceptable on most singles though as they're kind of 'designed' to cope with stall?
Guest Terry S
Charlie the 50mm we use are not adjustable?? The GT are adjustable, but yeah, you need to change the spring.
veilsideTT
If i don't make much boost and let off before i get to say, 0.3 bar, i get this noise. Sounds like the air, instead of exiting via the BOV, goes back through the turbo and out the air filter. Whereas i love the noise, Am i damaging my turbo??????
