Jake
You might be alright, PayPal will freeze any funds in his account until the matter is settled.

scooby_doo_do
I've just gone through all this with something i bought from Japan. I got refunded £250, but no postage costs.. So in total i was £92 down.. As i paid inmport tax of £42 and then the shipping costs to send the dam stuff back £50. All for something that i bought for £250... You should be ok.. But i think Paypal only pay out up to £250, :thumbdown
MARTIN R
Hope you have not lost cash mate. Pm Ian, he had a real battle to get his cash back from an Ebay scam. He did recover all his cash though, I think it was his Credit card company that coughed up.
CJ
Liam, contact your CC supplier and they will reimburse you.
Class One
Laim, if you've paid by credit card, then you'll be able to get a refund from them as it'll be a fraudulent transaction, and therefore they technically are the victim. You may have to report a crime, but thats no hardship if you want to get your money back.
psymon
I had this problem too, bout a year ago, instead of going the long winded way through Paypal, i phoned my credit card and they sorted it. bout a month later paypal started to sort their act out. If it happens again i'll do the same and go through my credit card, paypal don't seem to have any hurry up on matters like this

toyotasuprauk
How can it be that easy to get away with scamming someone! Did you see the ebay scammers on the news yesterday that got about 2 years in jail each. I don't think that's enough really in a year they will be out and have got over £300,000 in scammed money. I know it says case closed but I would chase paypal about this its not acceptable.

Huh....so what about the rest? This is uncalled for, how can Paypal / ebay get away with this? BTW: Ebay were on TV the other night, Watchog or similar where they were being accused of not helping out users that were victims of fraud. Be cautious in the future. Even Positive feedback isnt fool-proof.
CJ
The only way you can truly protect yourself when using paypal is to pay with a CC and not out of your money pot.

Chiefgroover
A` few years ago I bidded on some car audio stuff that cost $417USD. The guy (feedback was in the hundreds) kept telling me it was on the way (ground shipping @ 3 weeks) after 5 weeks I got fed up and reported it. PAYPAL disowned it, saying it was over 30 days, when i called them they talked me down (after 15 seconds and hung up, twice). My credit card company said they wouldn't pay as Paypal actually paid the guy not them. I tried calling the guy who had "we have gone bankrupt" message. I got nothing, I hope you do better. Paypal suck. E bay might give you £120.
CJ
You would be luckier today chief as the CC companies now refund even if it was paid by Paypal. I know this as I recently got money back from a scammer operation.
Chiefgroover
At the time I found them all totally unhelpful, glad things have changed CJ.
CJ
At the time I found them all totally unhelpful, glad things have changed CJ. Paypal them selves are still f*cking useless and unhelpful. I think the revised Consumer credit acts made sure the CC companies had to help out in certain situations.
