Circuit diagram / schematic & help needed for rear lights

Please help!

I have a UK car with inbuilt fog-light circuitry, but I have replaced my rear lights with facelift jap-spec units, and therefore now have twin brake lights and no rear fog lights.

I have an MOT test tomorrow morning and am going to fail on this.

I am thinking that if I can find out which wire powers the fogs, then I can strap that wire to the right-hand inner brake light with a resistor, therefore getting a permanently brightened RH fog light.

Can anybody tell me which wire I need to look at?

Also, to help with my testing, should the fog lights come on without the main lights? e.g. can I test with my multimeter with just the fogs turned on but the lights themselves off?

cheers,

Carl

Is this thread any help - it has photos in it and links to the wiring diagrams (for J-Specs tho) IIRC :)

I did like the sound of that - I saw it on Thor's website, but I was/am not sure how it would apply to a UK car where the wiring is already in place.

As things are now, I have lost a reversing light. Really I could do with a red lense but painting the bulb should get me through the MOT tomorrow

Paul, does this stop the inner lights (fogs) going even brighter when you brake?

No mate, all it does is switch on one pair of brake lights permenantly and has no adverse effect on the remaining brake lights. Switch your fog off and it reverts back to four brake lights

Just got what you meant, NO, the resistors don't dim down the brake lights used for fogs.

sort of, what i mean is that those lights which are on as fogs, would they go even brighter if you braked whilst they were on as fogs? Or do the diodes block the brake power going to them when they're on as fogs?

Not sure why I'm bothered, it obviously works. I was just afraid of blowing the bulbs with them getting double super-brightness (fog power + brake-light power = lots of power & brightness).

No, they are on at the same brightness as the brake lights and won't alter when the brake lights come on, no brighter or dimmer. It's a pukka mod, cheap too (we like cheap) I've had mine in since that thread and no problems.
