Supersupra1
Hi all, Started the car up yesterday and its developed this intermittent squeak on idle which increases with higher revs. Interestingly enough, the last time it was driven, it was over several speed bumps just before it was parked up. Not sure if they could have knocked something out of alignment. No mechanic has looked at it yet, i thought id pose the question on here for you veteran enthusiasts first so i don't look like a total newb if/ when i take it in Thanks in advance Edited August 7, 2019 by Supersupra1 (see edit history)
Scooter
Have a read of this, it's a good first thing to check - the crank pulley possibly delaminating http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?286491-Power-Steering-Pump-problem-Crank-pulley-problem/page2&highlight=tippex
Supersupra1
Update: started her up again, same squeak on idle, increased inline with revs. Turned it off then back on, squeak stopped but it was followed by some worrying grumbling. Turned it off, someone is coming tomorrow. Will upload results.
Scooter
Possibly just one of the pulleys on the belt run, the bearings can go on the tensioner or alternator etc and give noises, hope it's a simple and inexpensive fix.
PJJ
Mine was doing a similar thing but noise went away after it was warm. When I got it serviced I asked them to check the crank pulley, and yes mine was slipping slightly so had it replaced on the service.
Tommyd16
I had the same and it was the part below. Easy change and pretty cheap. I would start here http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/toyota/supra/engine-components/pulleys-belts/garage-whifbitz-639.html
