Bob
Sorry , I know this has been answered so many times, but I'd like it answered in 'mechanical numpty' terms, please! I understand that decatting normally, you need a restrictor ring to restrict boost to no more than 1.2 bar. I've learned that much [pats self on back] However, if I was to get a boost controller (currently considering the Apex'i AVC-R), does that eliminate the need for a restrictor ring? Paul -C-
A boost controller can only increase boost, not lower it. So you need the restrictor ring to limit boost to 1.2 or else you could see boost spikes which could damage your turbos.

Bob
Cheers guys, that was exactly what I wanted Guess I was thinking that the controller somehow regulated the boost.
Chris Wilson
It does control the boost, but only UPWARDS from what the base level wastegate pressure level is. It cannot bring boost BELOW the wastegate level.
