Problem with facelift anolog odometer

It's a real puzzler that's been doing my head in for ages. The speedo works fine but the distance isn't recording, there is no movement on the odometer at all. It's not like I do many miles anyway, very rarely comes out but I do need to sort this as it will create problems come mot time and if ever mileage is checked.

Anyway I took the clocks out and came across a cheap version of a speedo converter/delimiter which the company who I imported the car with installed and has worked perfectly since I got the car in 2008. So I took it out and replaced with a brand new quality unit by speedm8 and still no change.

What are the chances it's the sensor in the auto box that needs replacing, or could it be the clocks themselves have had it. Is there anything else that it could be before I go on the hunt for new dials.

Thanks
