Crash Bandicoot
Stripped my engine down completely, time to rebuild, any suggestions on what main bearing to use, aiming for near the 1000bhp mark... Is the standard crankshaft any good for this power?
bignum
Fine at that power mate.
Crash Bandicoot
Ideal. Think I'm going to go for Clevite tri metal bearings as they're reasonably priced and have good reviews. I know the ACL race bearings are probably more suited to that sort of power but at £250 just for mains and the company now fallen apart I may give them a miss... Crash Bandicoot
What's the difference between normal Clevite bearings and Clevite H bearings? They mention oversize crank fillet on the H series... What is oversize crank fillet?
garethr
By "crank fillet" they mean the rounded section between the main bearing journal (or crankpin) and the crankshaft web. It's rounded to avoid the stress that would be caused if it was a sharp corner. http://www.camarohomepage.com/ls7/images/784.29b.jpg
Crash Bandicoot
^ that's valuable info! so oversized fillets would come on an aftermarket crank? I'm sticking with the standard crank so would need standard size (uprated) bearings?

We have King Racing Bearings available from stock for the Crankshaft, standard size and costing £89.59 delivered to forum members, they are similar quality and price to the ACL's, if not better
