Not pulling.... especially in first LOW BOOST??

Hi All,

I'm a New Jspec TT owner and i'm getting to know my car......slowly.

I dont seem to get much boost at all form the first turbo, maybe about 5-6 psi, and about 7.5psi from second turbo

This is really evident when im accelerating from a stop in 1st gear. Car doesnt seem to accelerate much at all till about 5-6000rpm when the second turbo kicks in. Its less noticable in 2nd, 3rd forth etc but boost on first turbo never gets beyond 6psi.

Is this usual and will second turbo always pull more than first??

Thanks guys

It does sound rather late for the 2nd turbo to be kicking in. Normally the 2nd comes in around 4K, obviously it'll be slower to spool when you are in 1st so the "kick" might not be felt until 4.5krpm or so...

Do you have a boost gauge fitted, if so what model is it (all modern ones measure in Bar)? Does the car still have both cats? Has it been checked over by a mechanic who regularly works on Supra TT's?

And welcome :)

Thanks for the interest guys....

Sorry i do have a boost guage and i meant bar........i meant the first turbo is boosting at o.5-o.6bar and the second at 0.7 bar. (not psi). the first turbo not pulling much especially in 1st gear when it seams non existent. In first gear the second turbo also seems to pull alot later in the rev range as i said above.

This all means terrible off the line performance......going to whiffbitz today so hopefully they can check it out.........

as far as i know and im almost certain it has both cats.

When i first bought mine it was in standard form the 1st gear was naff and felt that the 2nd turbo didn't even spool up until i changed into 2nd gear. I got a full service done (new fuel & air filters, plugs etc...) and it felt a billion times better after....when the 2nd turbo kicked in in 1st gear it nearly ripped my head off.

May be worth asking the dealer when it was last serviced and what was done so you can rule out the minor problems first. Then look for any split, loose, worn out pipes as you could be loosing boost there.

Paul is brilliant i'm sure he'll sort it out anyways. Whilst you're there get him to decat your car :eyebrows:
