Guest scudszone
Hi,need some help here, I have just fitted a full decat-Restrictor ring,Thor FCD and about to fit new plugs. I was expecting the boost to go to about 1.1 bar but it doesnt seem to have changed. It stays around 0.7b. Am i missing the plot here, theres lots of posts saying 1.1-1.2 bar? 1993 MKIV TT 6 speed

Guest scudszone
It had a HKS back box and i put a Blitz centre decat which made no difference and yesterday fitted the WhifBitz front decat, still no difference
Guest scudszone
i put the restrictor ring between the front and centre pipes-is this correct, should i just remove the ring completely??
jaymdee
Hi mate, All cars seem different. I got full Envy decats & RSR back box last November and a restrictor ring, but I only get between 0.9 & 1.0 bar. I'm hopefully getting the restrictor ring enlarged on Friday, as I am convinced that it's still providing too much back pressure - looking for 1.2 bar as this makes a noticeable difference. If I do, I'll let you know if it works. J
Chase
I've got a front only de-cat and RSR. I get 1.0-1.1 bar.

Am i missing the plot here, theres lots of posts saying 1.1-1.2 bar? 1993 MKIV TT 6 speed I've got 94 Jap Spec TT 6sp with Blitz & Whiffin decats and Blitz Nur Spec exhaust. I have NOT fitted the restrictor ring and only see less than 1 bar. I used a boost controller to up it to 1.2 bar. Like you i was told the boost would naturally increase over 1.2 bar but with the Ring it would reduce back down to 1.0-1.1 bar. My concern is my boost gauge is not accurate but will be getting it tested soon.
chilli
I'm already seeing 0.9-1.0 bar on my j-spec with both cats in still! and I'm about to de-cat *yikes* - I'll be fitting the restrictor ring to start with thats for sure...
jaymdee
Well, I got the restrictor ring enlarged on Saturday by 6mm diameter and I have got an increase in boost from 0.95 to about 1.1 bar. Going to get it increased by another 4mm and hopefully see 1.2 bar. Turbos spinning up a lot easier aswell. J
chilli
Update, fitted my 2.5" de-cat pipes and restrictor ring and am seeing no change in boost! should i remove it, try and resize it or is there any diagnostics i can do? Paul Wiffin has recommended i check my vsv's are working ok, is there anything else i can do?
