Electrical locking problem

Hi guys,

 

Wondering if anyone has had simular problems or what could be causing this.

 

When driving my supra it is always trying to lock itsself, both doors and boot.

The remote central locking doesn't work but central locking works when unlock car with key. It's a race to get into the car sometimes to open the door before it locks itself. When driving and it's already locked itself you can hear it still trying to lock.

It just started randomally one day.

 

I'm worried I might accidentally lock keys in the car or struggle to get out if I need to get out quickly, could be dangerous.

Just a wild guess, but the mr2s are renowned for suffering with faulty microswitches in the actual lock mechanism. I wonder if it could be something like that?

 

Either that, or a wiring fault. The central locking is negatively pulsed on these, so maybe there's an exposed wire that's earthing out on the lock side?

Thanks Gaz so prob worth me tracing wires to start with to see if I can find a fault there?

I have to admit I'm no expert with electrics. Adding stuff is easy, fault finding can be a real headache.

 

The central locking working on the key says that it's definitely not fully broken somewhere. Does the lock/unlock button on the door card switch work?

 

Maybe find the lock/unlock wires in the drivers kick well, and earth them out in turn to check the signal is getting to the solenoid in the door? I know the mr2s have two lots of wires at the kick well, not sure if the supra is the same?

Yeah the button works I use that to let passengers out lol. So yeah that would surgest the system is ok just getting interrupted or grounded somewhere I guess?
