400 miles on the bike, and already knocked off by van man who pulled in front of me without indicating!

Wasn't fast, only 10-15 mpg, but got up and walked away with just bruises and a bit of stiffness. Bikes seen better days, but its at the dealer now and he reckons its gonna get the go ahead to repair so thats ok.

Live to fight another day, just wanna get back on now! (mentalist - yep!)

Glad your alright mate. They do say that you will have a crash within the first year of riding anyway. Just will make you even more aware of everyone around you.

I had a white van man do the same, except i was on a push bike with a brand new dvd player hanging from my right handle bar. :D

Cheers m8 - yup, your bound to have one at some point, was best I could have really considering, and as you say, sharpens you up even more, even though I had been riding for 2 years previously (albeit a scooter, but would have been doing the same thing on that!), certainly takes your awareness to another level...........

Brother in law came off on his 2 week old SV650 on our ride on Sunday, got to a roundabout that had seeds on it, looked like they'd come from a farm vehicle..... Like little fecking ball bearings they were, he was doing about 10-15mph too and the bike just slipped away from under him. You could barely even walk across them.....

Bloody hell Neil. You've only had that bike 5 mins. What a gutter.

At least you're ok mate, that's all that really matters.

A guy at work was telling me has father in law went out for a sunday spin on his bike and was side-swiped at a junction by some SMIDSY tosser. Apparently he's paralised from the neck down now.

Be careful mate. There's a lot of hopeless drivers out there who just don't understand the whole bike thing. :(

 did they get the driver? same thing happened to my mate, he had been to get his haircut down the road, went on his bike without leathers, side swiped by a car that sent him through a brick wall, messed up his marines career a bit too! (He's actually lookin for a supra and is on this forum now)

Jake - what does SMIDSY mean mate?

Cheers guys :) Jake - tell me about it mate, kinda sums up the luck that I've had over the last 10 years though - gotta get better at some point - hasn't it?!  Agreed re drivers not getting the bike thing. 10% are really good, like moving over etc, the other 90................well...........

Funny thing is, my Dad came along and talked to the driver. The driver admitted he'd seen me coming along, but obviously all went out the window when he was too concerned about the turn he'd almost missed and thats where his concentration went.........

Hey ho.
