garetheves
Following on from my thread a number of weeks back about insurance for U25's thought id update and ask you all for your opinion. Im currently with elephant and they have given me a quote of £115 a month for 12 months, coming to a total of £1380, not too bad i thought. The clubs insurer, Sky, quoted me a near identical price but the payment for this would be an initial payment of £311 then 10 monthly payments of £106. Newton Lee Insurances seemed quite comfident they could beat those 2 quotes but havent got back to me with a quote since my phone call a week ago, despite a second call a few days ago. Unfortunately i cant wait anylonger as insurance is due tomorrow. Basically what im wondering is this: Are elephant that bad that its worth the hastle of swapping all my details over, sending off proof of no-claims and paying the initial payment for no real saving over the year. Personally i would much rather stick with elephant, pay the set amount of money each month instead of having to try and find double this first month, and not have to do anything at all to renew. If elephant really are as bad as people make out then ill swap but not sure if its gonna be worth the hastle. Your opinions, as always, are greatly appreciated on this. RedM
I've just tried http://www.confused.com and they've found a quote almost £400 less than Sky. Also, I've been waiting over a month for SKY to send me the full insurance document. I'm on second cover note. Some excuse about their underwriter getting the model wrong! I'll give them until the end of the month and then try for cheaper and cancel with SKY if successful.

GeordieSteve
Sky had no time for me sadly. Gonna give them another go with the single but have little hope. Seems a lot of people have been let down my Sky
RedM
TBH, I'll more than likely stay with SKY. I like the people I've spoken to there, they know their stuff, I like the agreed valuation and, well, I guess they aren't the clubs official insurer for nothing. terribleturner
Gaz is that quote with Elephant with all your mods?? When i called up last year they would only cover 6 of mine I think the best thing in Sky's favour is they will agree a value on your car, unlike other companys who will give you the book value if anything bad was to happen. Kopite
i phoned Sky a few times, asked to speak to Jay or Scott. Was told one of them would give me a ring, heard nothing each time so i decided to stick with Elephant. They gave a reasonable quote, think if i get a single in a few months i'm gonna try that number that you gave me steve, will see what Elephant say to a "small" HP increase. P.S. Steve - that Jamie Dowson at than place in Newcastle is a top bloke, will be ringin him in a year again hope i never have to claim with Elephant! Won't ring Sky again unless i have to
Bob
Don't sky also offer like-for-like on modifications? I'm sure Elephant don't (I'm with them at the moment) - when it comes up for my renewal, I'll be shopping round and paying a bit extra for the additional peace of mind. I've previously used Greenlight and they were very reasponably priced too.

If you damage summat they will replace it with stock stuff. Think im gonna stick with elephant just because of the hastle of swapping plus i dont have to fork out £300+ in one go in the same month as Tax, MOT and service

I was with Elephant (£340 renewal) but went with Sky (£396) because of the agreed value and like for like declared mods. Rich
