Guest neokyle99
Hey, has anyone ever replaced the heater matrix on an NA model? Toyota want at least £1000 including the matrix for fitting! Any tips on replacing it or even a technical guide would be great.. Thanks
JustGav
It is a complete PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!!!... the dash needs to come out in order to do the job... LOT OF WORK.... The heater matrix itself is behind the main dash, so it is all dash panels off, take the crash bar off and then take the unit out... I would highly suggest disconnecting the pipes to the matrix and blowing air through it first, so you don't spill water all over the inside of the car. TLicense
Agreed it is a real pain. I think at the very beginning of the build stage for the Supra, there is a heater matrix travelling along a conveyor belt, and the car gets built around it! Pay someone else the £1k to do it (I wouldn't trust Toyota myself).

Stu_Fraser
I replaced the heater matrix on my old FTO, that was a PITA to do, me and my mate took three days to remove the dash, change the matrix then put it all back together again. When we were finished there was still about 10 screws left over.
JohnA
The good news is that the windshield stays in place.
Aerotop Dave
To quote someone on here 'I usually charge £1000 in the hope it'll put them off and I won't have to do the job'. So... a big job indeed then.

Honestly mat, unless your gods gift to the mechanics trade, or just have no way of forking out a grand, pay someone else to do it.

Yeah, it is the white thing and its pretty big. The heater matrix is actually slotted into the air con unit. Took mine out today and it is definately the heater matrix thats leaking so just got to wait for another one from Toyota then I can put it all back together again. . .
