Scott
I've had a quick look through the manuals and I can't find anything that will help me. I'm looking to replace most of the wires from the battery but I can't remember off the top of my head what I will need. Just wondering if there are any diagrams of it. The Alternator to battery is out, reason being that I don't want to remove the AC rad just yet so I'm leaving that as it is. Other than that I think the rest are easy enough. I just can't think of the negative side of things. Am I right in saying this is the only positives I need to worry about. Battery to starter motor Battery to Fusebox Alternator to battery (will be staying as is) Battery to splitter for amps etc etc Where does the negative terminal go to? Are there multiple points or is it one main earth? Cheers Edited March 3, 2012 by Scott (see edit history)

Scott
My car came from Japan with earthing wires going everywhere!? I have contemplated whether they are all necessary as they bug me!lol! Is it possible that you have an earthing kit installed? I can't remember exactly where all the earthing points are but I know there are a couple on the intake manifold etc. The earthing kits connect to all these points but they go over the top of the engine etc which can look a little messy. Scott
I just had a look to see what I have and I only have the 1 earth lead. I'm assuming I haven't lost anything but if I can find a diagram I would be happier
Westy
Yes mate, full earthing kit - they are marked "Splitfire" "Made in the USA".

The only reason I would fit one of those would be if I had any issues. But then, that would be covering over the cracks. I don't see any reason not to remove it if you don't like it bud
Scott
Noone? I thought this would be an easy one lol. Just looking for where the battery -ive terminal mounts to really
Andy Blyth
Noone? I thought this would be an easy one lol. Just looking for where the battery -ive terminal mounts to really There's just one wire to the side of the engine block from the negative battery terminal. The "engine ground" wires connect the rest of the chassis to the battery through the engine.

I think it's bolted on, is that right? Rather than a nut I mean.
Andy Blyth
I can't remember exactly what fastener is used for the engine end. I've tried to have a look on mine but I can't find it using the light from the screen of my phone! The EPC however, suggests it's a bolt:

Looks like it's between the AC and the oil filter going by that

dude
Scott the -ve are pretty important, the -ve terminal will normally go to the chassis and then the engine earths to the chassis as well, I would use 2 engine earths AND an earth from the head to the same earth point the -ve terminal is connected too.
