Chris Wilson
Here is a link to the gearbox mods I am making, straight cut, none synchro "dog box" internals in stock (ish) Mazda casing. Oz made kit, F1 technology gear tooth form and materials, expensive, but like a kid in a sweet shop, I couldn't resist :-) Less internal friction (straight cut gear teeth, but noisy as HELL), no synchros, so lightening fast gear changes, less inertia, dog leg first gear, so 2nd to 5th are within the H pattern, wider gears, so stronger and less internal power losses, current generation gear tooth format and dog gear convolute form. Gear case strengthened by macined heavy duty closure panle, also giving extra oil capacity for cooling. http://www.formula3.freeserve.co.uk/gearkit/gearkitthumbnails.html
Gareth Davies
Sounds more like a work of art than a gearbox Chris. You'll have to keep us up to date on how it drives. Whats the costs of parts / labour on this kind of activity? And would such an upgrade be applicable to our beloved supras? Just imaging replacing the infernal auto box

Gareth Davies
Brave men... Geez if I wasted time worring about all the things I "should" have done, i'd never bother getting out of bed. Well i'll need to replace the gearbox at some time anyway. So might as well enjoy the effortless cruising the auto offers until then. RLTC and an auto makes 1/4's sooo easy though True point and click driving. Adam W
Chris - I think you need to build a perspex gearbox casing, and run it on clear silicone oil so evryone can se how gorgeous those mechanicals are! Failing that, some kind of glass inspection window in the transmission tunnel so you can admire them from the drivers seat
Rich J
You'll be wanting to convert it to sequential operation next I suppose http://www.takakaira.co.jp/php/template.php3?id=663&cat=
Gareth Davies
My bro was looking at one of them, the vids with them look quite good (he has a S14a). Probably suit an integra well too... Alas, no supra version yet though. Guess i'll have to upgrade it the mans way then and get a real sequential...
Phil Wall
What a work of art. Can you do one for my office, something to stare at when the going gets tough.
