12V electronics help

My battery on the scooter seems to be discharging or something, it's charging OK (14.6V I think it was) but after a couple of days it has trouble starting - I don't ride it far each trip but I don't think it should run down that quick!!

Anyway, wanted to know what the connections should be, because I've got the positive and negative but I've also got a fuse cable which was connected to the positive terminal. There was no current flow (reading between positive terminal and positive cable) so it didn't look like it was shorting anywhere, plus it's open circuit between +ve and -ve cables.

But there's about 5M-Ohm between the fuse cable and the negative cable, is that right? What's the fuse for and where does it go? Obviously it's a fuse so shows short across a DMM, but wondered what the 5M was unless it's just normal for the route the cable takes - what's the fuse protecting basically!

Place I bought it said they'd put a new battery in before delivery, but I don't know if they just charged it, it looks like a newish battery with English writing on it, but who knows.

Don't want to replace the battery if there's something electrical wrong to nark a new one.
