How do I de-tension the accessory-belt tensioner?

I can see the pulley which comes off the tensioner arm, but how on earth do I loosen the tensioner itself? My belt has slipped off the main pulley so I need to loosen this.

i read somewhere put a socket set bit on the nut, long bar over socket handle and just leaver one way and this causes belt go slack (cant remember which way, of course you'll need someone to hold it while u move the belt. remember its an auto tensioner

 

I think it was one of Jakes posts in a thread to do with replacement belt. ill have a hunt for you

thanks mate but no worries, we used a power-bar to hold the tensioner away and the belt is off now
