kubus1
Ok, so the Turbo Timer works fine and it also displays the boost. The question is: Should I let the Turbo Timer calculate the best cooldown time or should I preset it manually to say 2 minutes always. Thanks for your inputs, Cuba
Alex
Its entirely up to you.. 2mins for constant running at over 60mph....though I tend to roll the car home over the first minute. ie I drive slowly round my estate of the dually which IMO isn't bad practice, the engine is hardly under any load and is just pushing the car along at nigh on idle. 1 min should be enough for in-town driving. See what the Turbo Timer does then decide if you think its long enough.
AJI
2mins is good enough time to let the turbo blades stop rotating at high speed. I simply play the next track on the CD and when it gets to 2 mins into the song thats when I turn off the engine. So, my turbo timer is my CD player (that's either SAD or a damn good idea). Barry
I let my time do the calculations. Its not just the time you need to let the turbine wheel slow down, its more so to let the oil cool the bearings down. If oil flow stops and the bearing and seals are too hot then thats what shortens the life of them and hence you will sorten the life of your turbo(s). like the new smilies.!!! adi
Whatever happens, dont let it idle, go indoors, and then go back out an hour and a half later to see it still ticking over...
randy
In town driving I let the turbo timer on for 30 sec and for a hard pulls and anything above 60 mph do a 1.30 sec cool down and for a super fast speeds above 100mph for over 5-10 mins cool down about 4-5 mins.
