Best route to and from Wimbledon from West (M4)

Here's a question for any of you london folk....

 

I need to be in wimbledon tomorrow at 15:00 and should hopefully be leaving by about 15:45. I am travelling from Gloucestershire via the M4.

 

Does anyone know whether the M4 straight in past the M25 is best or should I drop down off the M4 at reading to the M3 and then go a little way around the M25 and head up in towards Wimbledon on the A3. Sat nav says first option and RAC route says second one.

 

I am a little concerned about traffic and congestion on my way home.

 

Any ideas on the best route?

I would go with the M4 at those times. Worked in Wimbledon for 9months never had much of a problem travelling about/home around that time.

Well, while I'm not the most experienced in driving in London, I found it a nightmare to get to and from the M4 through Richmond at 3 p.m.

For my money, I would always take the A3.

I'd say the A3 too from experience.
