Cos I broke all the clips removing it to fit me new illuminated washer sprays.

I have now bought some replacement clips so everything in the garden is allright.

Fitted a neon strip as well.

Where's the neon?  Under the bonnet shining on the engine?  Or what?

Quote: from Rob on 1:34 pm on Mar. 9, 2002[br]The bonnet liner is lined with glass fibre, which I presume is there for heat insulation. Are there any pitfalls in removing it? i.e will the paint craze on the top of the bonnet etc?

I've been driving around without the liner for almost a year and have not noticed any bad effects. I think removing the liner will clean up the look of the enginebay when the bonnet is open.

The Bonnet liner has a number of purposes but the one that you may not know about is the fact that when it gets very hot (around 450c) it gives off a fire retarden gas as part of its degradation, so if you do have a fire, at least you have some time to get out of the car without flames licking up the windscreen at 90mph as you are trying to brake, additionally the fixings should be chosen with care, they are designed to 'let go' of the liner in an effort to smoother the fire also, so the fireman can open the bonnet and put out the flames, if its not there he can open the bonnet and be engulfed in flames.

Who'd be a fireman eh!

It is common knowledge, at least in my circle of family & friends!

(One of whom helped develop the retardent)

-and it is blindingly obvious, isn't it?
