Does anybody know about these? I thought we weren't able to tweak our ECU's?

Have I found something really good here?

Our challenge for making the impossible possible -

The design of computer chips for today's automobiles has evolved into "one chip" CPUs. These factory original CPUs cannot be reprogrammed and are not available on the open market.

TECHTOM Romboards offer the solution to reprogramming.

TECHTOM Romboards use the factory processor portion of the CPU and outboards the memory portion to a standard EPROM for easy sccess to the data.

TECHTOM Romboards are ultra-compact and fit inside manufacturer's computer housings. No need for "Piggy-Back". TECHTOM's pioneering engineers have analyzed the most popular Japanese automobile computers. The result is the most dependable performance enhancing system for the widest range of engines and they are produced only by TECHTOM.

it seems to me that a skilled enough tuner would be able to purchase their mapping software and tools, and sell one of these chips to customers who wanted to:

Remove / adjust fuel cut

Remove speed limiter

Adjust Autobox shift-points

Raised rev-limit

and probably other things..

Major repost in the EMS department.

I didn't even know we had an EMS department!! Oh well :)

There have been plently of discussions where people have mentioned their TOMs ECU's and a lot of people have said they would really like it if they could adjust their ECU's instead of having to piggyback all the time. So how come no-ones ever mentioned this?

right dude I'm afraid you're gonna have to stop yawning and point me to the thread that discusses this, 'cause I've searched for Techtom and I've come up with basically jack.

You're not getting confused with "Toms" modified ECUs are you?

but it has been covered on SF, and MKIV tech list, also info goes beyond car forums my friend ...

Seriously tho, why all the EMS whoring? you looking for something that is simple to tune, so you get better MPG?

Okay so I guess it wasn't exactly a 'Major Repost' then.

I'm not looking at it for me, I'm suggesting it as something useful for the masses on here. For example Chris Wilson might offer a service where he installs a Romboard and adjusts parameters to peoples preferences for say £500 a go. It would be tidier than all those piggyback things.

With regard to MPG (presumably from me mentioning feathering the gas pedal and wanting the box to drop earlier), this is just something I wouldn't mind. If it was something that I could (at my choice) have done along with the other things for my £500 reprogram, I would. My only real gripe with the autobox is that it doesn't kick down when it could.

Oh ok cool,my bad im mixing you up with someone else?

What masses? if they want piggybak go emanage, VPC, for street singles, or if they want a proper standalone they have FCON.AEM,Autronic ... whats all the drama?

You pays your money for aftermarkt management and you pays your tuning ..
