The nuts/studs in the downpipe closest to the turbos can be a bitch. Big time.

Soak them in WD40 of course, but that may not be enough.

Ideally you have to heat them redhot, then tap them axially with a hammer.

If you're lucky they may loosen up, or else you may end up with a sheared stud or two.

Then you have to drill them out and retap the thread. Not very amusing if you haven't got the car on a lift.

I had a garage do it for me (Leon) although I could DIY it if I really wanted. Sitting on my back drilling out studs is not my idea of fun.

You need to have replacement studs too (juuuuuuust in case)

Good luck mate

like the above says plenty of wd 40 and let it soak for a while you'll need a good socket set 1/2" drive and use a proper hex socket not one of them multi point star types, the 2 nuts furthest from the turbo are not to bad to get to with extension bars but the one closest to the turbo is a bi-atch and needs a universal joint, when your undoing them dont play with them be positive and go for it otherwise you will round them off, dont be put off by all the horror storys mine were on a 93 j-spec and came off pretty easy
